Silly Face and Silly Stairs

For quite a while now, Riley has been making the funniest face that Richey has termed her "bitter beer face." It makes her look like an old lady with dentures or something. OH how she makes me giggle! Remember the Bitter Beer Face commercial? IF not, then I thought you might like to reminisce... see below! And for the record, Riley's WAY cuter than the real bitter beer face, but don't you see a resemblance?! ha!

.
On another note, this two-story house that we so blindly bought 3 1/2 years before children, is driving me NuTs. Stairs + babies/ toddlers= don't mix. The girls are good at crawling up the stairs, but both often decide to stop in mid crawl to check on me or their sister and almost fall. (don't get me started on going down the stairs- yikes!) Did I mention at the bottom of the stair case is TILE? Reese's latest "Miss Independence-ism" is wanting to walk up the stairs, which requires a little help from me. So just yesterday when focusing on her walking, Riley flies by me- down, down, down. I shove my leg behind Reese so she doesn't fall all while catching Riley from plummeting to the tile. Good grief! I'm forced to be a contortionist, I tell you! I keep thinking someone should invent a little chair with straps that will electrically bring children safely up. Ski-lift like. Then it dawned on me. George Costanza did just that! In an episode of Seinfeld where he pretended he was handicapped to get a job, he rode up the stairs in a little seat. It is one of the best episodes! Everyone is walking by so quickly as his slowwwww chair creeps up an dhe waves at everyone passing. The song "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" is playing all the while. What a crack up! I now can't go up the stairs (aka perform my juggling act) without singing that song. For your viewing pleasure in case you haven't seen this genius of George Costanza:

Easy solution? Take one up at a time... I know, I know.

we have all the same problems! eli wants to walk up the stairs too (on two legs, not all fours). our big problem now is that they want to stop and just sit on the steps. up 3, down 2, up 1, down 3... it's like a game. ugh! they have both decided that they don't want to go down on their bellies anymore either and go down facing forward on their butts. talk about a heart attack! i love gates; i hate stairs!

Thanks.....now I'll have that song in my head all day. :-) That's hilarious.

We had a two story house with all bedrooms upstairs until we moved from Indiana when they were about 17 months old. My main requirement when buying a house in Texas was that it be a one story. It's SOOOOO much easier! I know.....that really makes you feel better, huh?
