This is my latest 'How Do You Do It?' post...
Oh grocery store, I’ve been thinking, and I despise you each week.
I might even consider you my “nemesis,” so to speak.
When my twins were smaller, it felt impossible to stop by
With TWO baby carriers in a cart- WHERE would my groceries lie?
For a while I tired pushing the Quattro Duo to stroll through
With bags hanging from handles, underneath, and on top of the babies too.
Not ideal to say the least, but it kinda worked for me in the past
But last week things changed, my friends…my wildest dreams surpassed!
After parking by the basket return, placing one in the seat, one in the back
I pushed the cart to the door and about had a heart attack.
Suddenly, it was leaping and jumping with joy and in awe
I squealed and giggled and could not believe what I saw.
There in front of my eyes was a cart that appeared
One with TWO front seats- they’ve never had those here!
I quickly began moving my girls over to this new find
They grinned as they were buckled in side by side.
Hallelujah! Something that makes my shopping easier… I thought
Then reality sunk in and I was a tad bit distraught.
With twins in tow, “the ticking time bombs,” it’s a race against time.
Before they’re sleepy or hungry, and letting out a whine.
So the basket may be a blessing to me to some degree,
But grocery store, oh grocery store- you still take all my energy.
(Picture repeat!)
My girls really love getting out and about (as do I), but I don't really like going to the grocery store (really with OR without them :) ). So, ladies, How Do YOU Do It?? How do you motivate yourself to go? And if you have kids, have any tricks that make the trip easier?
My Tom Thumb (that now has the double seaters- WHOO HOOOOOOO) also has a Starbucks (WHOO HOOOOO), so with my girls next to each other in the cart and a Iced Chai Tea Latte in hand, it's a bit more enjoyable. Also, the latest "key to my daugthers' hearts" are these little rice cakes called Mum Mums- ever heard of them? They LOVE them. Mum Mums and sippy cups of water can buy me lots of time... :)

You are such a creative little writer! I don't have any tips for you other than I go at night solo or I take another person to assist me! I have gone by myself with both babies in the HUGE stroller and I hated it! I had bags and stuff everywhere and people looked at me like I was crazy! Have you seen the shopping cart covers for double baskets on Etsy? I just ordered individual seat covers for B&B from a designer there and I'm so pleased with them...makes life so much easier not having to haul that big stroller around!
Yeah love it when life gets easier!!! The picture is still cute :) How's the b-day planning going :)
I despise the grocery store. Always have. When I lived in Houston, I ordered my groceries online and they delivered them to my doorstep....loved it! They don't have cool stuff like that in Arkansas. LOL Though my grocery store does have a Starbucks, I still hate to go. :) All I can say is...you rock! I can't imagine shopping with two babies!!
I love going to the grocery store with C. I look forward to it every week. I don't know why you think it's so hard!
oh my gosh- leah, I just laughed out loud! ha ha ha ha
HA! HA! I couldn't resist posting that.
You KNOW I can't stand going to the grocery store with C! I usually go at night without him. I have no idea how you do it with two. AMAZING!
I LOVED your post! You ARE such a wonderful writer and mommy (among other things!)
I am with you on the grocery store. I absolutely dread it! Ryan and I go together during the school year because I just can't handle it by myself. We have already talked about how this will work with Hannah. He has agreed to do all the shopping so Hannah and I can stay at home. This was music to my ears! Now we'll just see what he comes home with when he does the shopping by himself!!! ;-)
Avery is a big fan of the mum mums! Have you tried the organic circular ones with strawberry icing on top. Yum! I have them only at Toys R Us. Our girls need to get together for mum mums. :)
uggh, the grocery store, or any store for that matter! If I can't make it to the store at night when Jon is home and must go during the day, we definetely look for the carts with the cars, ya know the little red and yellow coupe cars...it gives Brayden the chance to "drive" and be in control. He looks forward to the cheese from the deli...even if we aren't buying it that day. And Haylee, well the infant seat is a little bulky and heavy, but at least she is content in there!
Personally, my kids are GREAT in the grocery store. Every mom's dream come true. If that dream involves one child running off around the corner, knocking over a stack of cans in the process, and the other child in full-blown tantrum mode on the floor.
I NEVER take the kids to the store. Ever. I either go when Kenny is at home (summers) or when the girls are in school.
As for motivation, it generally goes something like this. "Tricia I swear to you I will not buy one more meal out. We are cooking dinner at home TONIGHT." Then he makes the serious face at me.
