Let the Countdown Begin...

Reese Abigail and Riley Grace are 11 Months old (yesterday)!!  WOW.  Their birthday is in less than a month!!  Looking back over these past 11 months, I'm in awe of the way God has led us thru, the trials, the tears, the joy, the blessing after blessing, and the way God has had his hand on my preemie girls.  Let's see...

Walk with me down Memory Lane, will you?

We started with an emergency C-section 9/4/08...

Then a (nearly) 2 month NICU stay

The attempt to nurse, pump, AND bottle feed to supplement with formula for extra calories.  Ahhh!

Oh and let's not forget-entire bottles of milk refluxing back up and starting the process all over again (times 2).

Looooong, sleepless nights (times 2).

Never feeling like i have enough arms/hands.

ECI- Occupational Therapy-overcoming tortocolis, atypical muscle tone, and continued improvement of plagiocephaly and reaching milestones.

Many many trips to the pedi- for weight checks, regular check ups, shots (yikes!), and several colds, a couple ear infections, and Riley's bronchiolitis too.

(Remember this stroller incident my first appt by myself?!)

Riley's breathing treatments.

(This pic is so funny!)

The attempt at Cranial Bands for 4 days until Riley got MRSA (Staph) and gave it to Reese.  What a blessing they were NOT hospitalized.

Saying FAREWELL to those silly helmets (And getting our money back!).

A ton of walks up and down the stairs (good-bye, baby weight)

(Doesn't Riley look tiny?! ha!)

Sleeping thru the night (since 5 months-- whooo hooo).

sitting up

crawling

lowering cribs because of this little girl's latest trick:

pulling up

Teething.

Eating "real" food... and making giant messes.  (No more reflux though).

Lots of 'talking' (they both can say mama and dada)

Waving

Several car trips around Texas.

Showing off at, I mean- going to, the NICU Reunion.

Lots of giggles and interaction between the girls.

Lots of giggles from us.

Times of frustration from all of us. :)

Lots of prayers from us.

AND lots of thanksgiving!!!

We've made it- almost a year!

Still working on that birthday picture for their invitation... ha! :)

Oh Amy, I absolutely loved this little trip down memory lane. I cannot believe it's almost been a whole year. Those months they were in the NICU seemed to last forever, but the months they have been out just flew by. I loved each and every one of those pictures!! Loved them :)

When are you needing to take those pictures? I can try and help if you'd like. I have a Canon Xsi DSLR and photoshop so we can plan around with the pictures afterwards. We can try to get together one day next week for a mini twin photoshoot! lol

I can not believe they got MRSA from the cranial bands! How sad! (new reader here) My Alex was banded for three months and we never had issues. He also had torticollis and plagiocephaly and was in physical therapy from 6 months to 15 months. He's obviously fine now but I had never heard of anyone getting MRSA so wanted to comment.

Happy almost birthday! What a crazy crazy year.

Just so you know, I am STILL laughing at the stroller thing!

As for the invitations, we have Christmas cards one year that were all of the mess up pics. The cover had nine thumbnail photos. In every one someone was crawling off or a dog was in the way or somebody was crying. It was a funny card....and a last ditch effort to make something out of the nine hundred pics I had taken without managing to get one decent one! Good luck getting that birthday photo!

Can't believe it! Your girls are so stinkin cute and reading this has brought to mind all of our memories! We are so blessed! I can't wait to see all of the party stuff...I've already been thinking about B&B's party (barnyard...since they LOVE Baby Einstein Old McDonald. If you have any cute ideas, send them my way)! Have fun planning their special day...can't wait to see the pics!

Wow, almost a year already!?! They are getting so big and of course always so cute!

I didn't know you got your $$ back for the cranial bands! That's awesome! I was telling your story to my Twin's Club this week.....the only group of friends that you can sit around and have ECI and plagiocephaly conversations with! haha
