Poor Riley... :(

Yep. That's my little Riley Grace in a hospital gown. :( She had an outpatient procedure yesterday and this mama was a mess! But Riley? She was totally digging all the attention! She was smiling, laughing, talking to everyone she passed by at the hospital and charming the socks of everyone. She loved every second. Well... every second she wasn't asking, "Mama, snack?" The girl was hungry! (She stopped getting food at 11:30- before lunch!) We ventured to the hospital so she could get an abscess on her rear end drained (gross, I know. It was MRSA- ick!). She had to be put under and it was just pitiful. :( They gave her some meds to help her relax before they took her back to the OR. I could not stop giggling at her glazed over eyes totally enthralled by the bubble machine we were playing with and then the hiccups began. It was hilarious! She was completely drunk acting. :) She was so cute in her hospital gown (aka purpa-dess-->purple dress-- as she called it). When they were rolling her away on the bed she could care less (very out of the ordinary- the meds were working!). They laid her down and she sat right back up and said, "No." very sweetly, still in a daze, hiccuping. hee hee.

OH how hard it is to wait!! I just prayed and prayed for my sweet girl. The procedure went well. It was hard for her to wake up her head, but I got to hold her and after she had some juice (and kept it down), we were on our way. I had developed a migraine which added to the stress of the day and oh ya... I DON'T DO hospitals. They make me faint... literally. I know it's mental, but it's there. I was great until the recovery room. I had to sit down. Then on the way home I had to lay down... Riley didn't need her 'barf bag,' so I had it close by. ha! Migraines are HORRIBLE. We got home at 8:30- I went straight to bed and felt 95% better this morning.

Riley's doing well- a bit uncomfortable, but her silly self. Pray that she heals well and we can avoid another infection! And to be honest... I'm having a difficult time tending to her 'wound.' Remember how hospitals make me faint?? Yes, well blood and yucky things do too. I really need to toughen up! PRAY for me! :)
isn't she CUTE in her purpa dess?!

Thanks Aunt Leah for playing with/taking care of Reese while we were with Riley!

Poor baby, and Momma too!! I'm so glad she's ok. She looks so cute and tiny in that gown. :) Call me anytime you can't deal with the yucky dressing changes and I can help! It's easier to use me nursing skills when it's not my baby! When I deal with Avery's boo boo's, I'm a mess!

Riley's such a trooper. MRSA! Ugh. My friend's little boy Andy contended with that, and it didn't sound fun.

There's something about watching your child in a hospital (especially after the NICU) that's heartbreaking.

*hugs*

What a brave little girl! I have the fainting problem too. Its been there since I was little and although I'm pretty sure it's all in my head I can't seem to get it to go away. Here's to fainting mamas!!!

Poor Riley and Mama! I am glad that the surgery went well. I can imagine how scary that must have been for you. And I hear ya with the migraines! I get them too, at the worst times as well, and they are not fun. Will I see you and the girls at Leakhena's on Tuesday?

So I get a horrible migraine every time we go to Texas Children's. I attributed it to the stress and such. Then my neuro informed me, it is probably just the cleansers they use. Apparently it is a common trigger. Now I just know to pop a migraine pill before I get there!

Hope Riley is doing good this evening.
