Our Day

In February of 2009, Reese and Riley were referred to Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) due to their tortocolis and abnormal muscle tone. The reason? Basically: they were squashed in the womb AND were preemies! (I'm 5 ft 2 in!) During the initial evaluation, we met a very special lady that has become very special to our family. Ms. Leakhena! When I was a new mom (the girls were 5 months old), clueless, tired, and not leaving the house due to RSV season, she was my saving grace and encouragement every single week. My girls are in love with Ms. "Nuh Nuh" as they call her. During their re-eval in Feb of this year, Reese was dismissed! She's all caught up and just where she should be compared to any other typical child her age. YAY! Riley continued services as she wasn't walking yet. But... she started walking about a month and a half ago and is doing FABULOUS with her speech and fine-motor. What answered prayers! Ms. Khena has decided to stay home with her own kids this summer, and since we've met our goals with Riley Grace... I've decided to deny services instead of change Occupational Therapists. I feel like Riley's 'graduated' even though she didn't exactly. :) But I DO feel so proud of how far they've come and a lot of it is due to our fabulous OT. We love her and already miss her, so...

Today: we went to Ms. Khena's house to meet HER kids and play with her, Ms. Kristen and Ava! What a FUN day. We are so blessed to have Ms. Khena in our lives.

Reese and Khena (she didn't really want to stop playing...!)

They had lots of fun!

Ava! Isn't she adorable??!!

The little girls with Leena. She will be a fabulous babysitter one day!

Yesterday, we ventured to Toys R Us to get some more crayons (I'm learning what things we need 2 of- so each girl can have one... boxes of crayons is one of those things- ha!) and another baby for the girls' dollhouse. We left it at a restaurant, and they've been looking for 'babyyy' ever since! :) We found a baby but also saw... a DOG for the dollhouse. OH you would have thought Reesey was in heaven! She hugged and kissed the box. ha ha! She hasn't stopped playing with the doggies and feeding them their dog food. :) Today, she decided to load up all the dogs from the dollhouse and take them on a ride on the back of her scooter. It was SO CUTE!
See:
She was sure not to forget the doggy's food bowls.

0ff she went! "Doggies. Weeeeee!"

The doggies jumped out, so she stopped to place them back in their seat VERY carefully.

Riley's loving the doggies too. Here she is brushing the dog. :)

I love how they love pretending lately. TOO CUTE!

Everytime I see pics of R&R, I can't believe how big they are! Where did those tiny babies go!?

Love their little faces and cute outfits. :)

My kids have these cars that have seats that open up where you can put things inside the seats and they always put all of their favorite things in their seats! Kinda like she put them one the back of the scooter :) What a cutie!

Leakhena worked with Emmi also! I am pretty sure Emmi thought she was torturing her, but I loved her!

Congratulations on meeting your goals, Reese and Riley!

I think pretend play is so much more fun with twins, because they can play off each other. Oh, this is such a fun age!
