awe

I've been in awe of God lately.  He has showed me His power and provision over and over in my life, but I think I've stopped to notice it more the past couple weeks.  With the loss of my nephew, Liam, (20 weeks gestation), I am reminded of Psalm 139- how he knitted us together in our mother's womb.  He ordained our days before we were even here on earth.  He made us perfectly in His image- his thoughts about us are precious and there are so many, they cannot be counted!  Wow- I love that!  He is Almighty and omniscient, yet, devastating things do happen in our lives.  I'm comforted in Romans 8:28- that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him."  We don't always understand, but we can trust his goodness- that he will use this situation to bring him glory.  Thank you for your continued prayers for Leah, Ben, Casen and my family.

When spending time in the hospital with Leah (and Ben) last week, I found myself flooded with memories.  Hospitals aren't easy for me.  It stems from having back surgery when I was 13.  It was a bit traumatic... the smell and feel of hospitals since then make me dizzy and queasy.  (I've gotten much better since my babies LIVED in the hospital for so long).  It's amazing to me how our senses- especially our sense of smell tap so deeply into our minds.  I was washing my hands at the hospital and I almost froze- it was the same soap that I used 1-3 times a day for 3 minutes each time for 55 days.  The NICU soap!  The smell flooded my mind with emotions.  I had images rushing through my head, started thinking about our sweet nurse friends, my babies in isolettes, with tubes and monitors, the ups and downs, and how far they've come... wow.  All because of a smell.  Isn't that crazy?

Being at a hospital and reliving my having baby/NICU days via soap smells (ha!), I was reminded of some of the interesting things about having babies... and the "aftermath."  Not always discussed (all the details of childbirth in general aren't either really), BUT I was reminded of my L-O-V-E for mesh panties from the hospital- that's right, I just mentioned them.  And those of you who have had children, you KNOW you love them too.  Leah and I actually had a whole conversation about how fabulous they are the other day.  ha!  Perhaps an "ode" should be written... hmmm...

On another note... :)  Have you EVER seen anything CUTER?!  BabyLegs AND Baby "Uggs" (Target brand)!!!!  Go ahead- admit it-- you HAVEN'T-- have you?!  Oh I love these chubby legs.  I especially love how BabyLegs accentuate allll the right places to squeeze!

Thank you for your continued prayers for my family.  Have a fabulous weekend, my friends!

We have those same boots. I can't wait until the weather is right for us to wear them. We haven't tried babylegs. Do they stay up pretty good? Praying for your family and your sister's family.

I am totally obsessed with baby legs! I've been buying them on baby steals all summer long, and I'm a bit embarrassed at the stash I've built up. :) Nothing cuter than some chubby thighs in those things!

The NICU soap still gets me and Connor is about to be 7. It's crazy when I get a whiff of that stuff or anything that smells even close to it. It takes me right back to those first days of mommyhood.

And, I will give you a big ol' amen sister to the wonderfulness of the mesh panties!

I feel that same way when I had to go wash my hands at the hospital to visit my friend having a baby. Brought back many memories, both good and bad.

had to laugh at the mesh panties comment... i actually asked my nurse if she could send me home with an extra box because i liked them so much! her response "uh, you really shouldn't NEED them after you leave the hospital"

i'm jealous of the baby legs pics! i wish boys could sport them too. oh well, maybe someday we'll have a girl to add to our clan : )

I get a migraine every time I go to Texas Children's. I know it is the smell of the cleanser, and I swear it is in reaction to bad hospital memories! It's all those days I spent with Emmi in the hospital that did it to me. Now I can't even make it through doctor's appointments!
