Through our whole dating relationship, Richey was always full of surprises and was always finding new ways to make me feel special. I think I forgot to mention in my last episode-- how before he left for Honduras, he delivered a book he wrote me... made from construction paper and crayons it was story about two characters (stick figures) and the story was telling the story of us... he melted my heart. Always something up his sleeve! In the Fall when we were back at ACU from the summer, Richey had a plan to celebrate our 6 month anniversary... it was during pledging, so he thought he'd put some of his pledges ("Siblings") up to assisting him in his surprises. (They were my age, so I had classes with them). I don't remember even realizing it was our 6 month "anniversary" (isn't that bad??) because I, too, was pledging and goodness-- that takes a lot of time and energy! :) Every time I'd see him that day, he had a camera in his hand and would get someone to take our picture-- he was acting so goofy.

This is a pic we took that day. Notice the Siggie colors-- nail polish and all-- many of you remember those days! And don't we look YOUNG?! (I was 19 and he was 21)
He would not explain himself and I was actually kind of confused... but with Richey-- you just go with it :) because you know he's not necessarily discrete, but does like to surprise you! Another time in the day, he told me to expect a surprise in Bible-- the class I was headed to. Huh? So... I sat thru Bible class (your dad's class actually, Sharon!!) kind of nervous wondering what was going to happen. At our "break" in the middle of class... 5 GSP pledges called ME to the FRONT of the room (there were probably 80 people in my class) and sat me on a stool in the middle of the room facing everyone... I don't necessarily come across as shy, BUT I am a bit introverted... I was bright red. They pulled out a guitar and a tape recorder and everyone was cheering wondering what was coming next... They recited their speech that I guess "Mr. Owen" as they called him told him to say and proceeded to kneel in front of me and sing "More Than Words" (by Extreme-- remember?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_dN1WXBxuw ) to me while they recorded it all to prove to him they did it. They also had to give me a rose from him and take a pic... see below. :) It was hilarious and so sweet! I'll never forget it!

That night, he had invited me over for dinner-- when I arrived, he had a dozen roses on the table along with a big frame full of all the pictures that he had taken of us and the events of the day and had written on it, "Happy 6 Month Anniversary," as well as a yummy dinner for two. I was blessed beyond words-- still am. (The goofiness and pictures suddenly made sense! ha!) :)
More adventures to come... and the ENGAGEMENT in Episode 5!!
