1. Although black is slenderizing, and what woman doesn't want that- after having twins or not, it's not a good choice when children are involved. The slenderizing bonus of black goes out the window when it's smeared with snot, smooshed food, and milk... it shows up too much on black. Stick to light colors, mommies.
2. I am just going to break out in a sweat everywhere I go for the next hmmm... how ever many years car seats are involved. Getting my girls in and out of the car plus strapping them in the stroller (And let's not forget the awful TX heat) is a workout- sweat and all. (gross, I know) BUT I'm thinking it's attributing to the baby-weight loss- hallelujah.
3. I learned just today that when in need of large items at the store (ie. case of formula, giant box of diapers), I can put Reese (or one baby) in the basket seat and hold the other baby, push the basket around (kind of... sight to see, I'm sure...), and load up with everything I need! Sure beats hanging things from every handle of the stroller and shoving large items underneath the stroller to where they drag and cause it not effectively "stroll".
4. My girls are dang cute, and I really think they know it. When out and about they giggle and squeal while staring at people near us or walking by until those people look at them. Seriously. They won't give up until they get strangers to smile at them and/or talk to them. EVERY time we go somewhere. Seriously! Little hams!
5. I'm a little sad about this one- I think my girls 'miss out' a bit compared to singletons (did you know that's the correct term for one baby? Learn something everyday! :) ). For instance: I can only take my sweeties swimming IF someone is there to help me. We couldn't go to our neighbor's birthday party at Little Gym because I didn't have anyone to help me. Kindermusik? Nope (Reese would be crawling away while I left Riley probably crying her head off because we left her). Library Story time? Not yet. Play dates and events/errands involving the stroller- YES. But... I don't think they're scarred... see #4. And I might just be a wimp.
6. I love blogging, love writing, but it seems when it is my "turn" to post on How Do You Do It (www.hdydi.com), I always have millions of ideas but have writers block! funny.
7. Slow Cooker AKA Crock pot... I love you.
8. You can't compare your children. Even if they're twins- they are 100% their own person and on different timelines and that's okay.
9. I've recently realized Reese Abigail is a tough brave little lady! She's pulling up like it ain't no thang! Falls and runs into things all the time, but it doesn't stop her. She's crawling at approximately (I haven't timed it or anything) 100 mph, climbing like a monkey, will eat ANYTHING IF and pretty much only IF she is feeding herself-- she loves food. She's working on her 5th and 6th tooth- crazy! She's so silly (and keeps me on my toes!) and I just love her to death!
Reese just being silly!
10. Riley Grace is an absolute DOLL. Though she may be dramatic (as seen since the NICU day 1 of her life) she is so hilarious and I've realized she thinks she is too! She LOVES to bounce- in her bouncer, sitting on the floor, while you're holding her. Doesn't matter- anywhere. If you tell her to 'dance" she either bounces or shakes her head back and forth and laughs and laughs. She's our talker and maybe even a bit... lazy. :) Sitting in the middle of the room with toys around her watching her sister laughing is perfectly fine with her. Crawling? Huh? Nah! Too much work! Ohhh I just love her so much!
Here's a video of Daddy being silly and Riley BELLY laughing- SO cute!
Any life lessons/realizations you'd like to share???

Amy, you are such a sweet twin mama! I can't imagine how hard you work everyday!! Those girls are dang cute!
They are precious!!!
Re #3: I used to carry one Doodle in a front carrier and put the other in her infant carrier in the cart to go grocery shopping. When they're older, some HEBs have wonderful double-seater shopping carts, as does Target.
Re #4: They should know it! They are cute! They're building their confidence, which will carry them through the teenage years and beyond.
Life lessons?
1. Planned outings and activities are great, and necessary, but kids learn an awful lot from participating in household chores.
2. It's never too early to invite children into the kitchen. A nice big spoon and a plastic bowl make a great toy for any young child. When they're a little bigger, they can stir a small bowl of Cheerios while you cook.
I loved reading these! So sweet! I just read your birthday post and it gave me inspiration for the girls bows! I will get them in the mail asap. They are my favorites so far!
Great post! I miss you guys!!!!!
Love this post...
Ok...I am also a sweating mess when we get in and out of the car.
HA!
Also, I can take my swimming because our pool is beach entry and they just walk around or sit by me. Do you have those floaty things for them to float around in?
I understand. I wanted to do mommy/me swim lessons...yeah right, not with 2. All those mommy and me stuff...can't do!
But our kids are born with their best friend and always have a play friend...24/7. Wouldn't trade that for the world.
when you grocery shop...put one in the front pack thing and one in the cart. Sams has a double seater cart...they both fit! It is SOO cool!
You are blessed, they are precious!
#5- I hear ya! It gets a little better, but I'm still feeling it. For instance, I want to enroll them in gymnastics lessons, but it's a parent involved class (suppose to be 1 on 1 with your child I think). I'm just not sure I can handle 2 kids in gymnastics, especially while I'm pregnant! I'm also still too chicken to take them swimming by myself. However, when they are both walking steadily, it does get WAY easier to take them to parks and play areas. There is a lot more chasing, but at least you don't have to be RIGHT on top of them in case they eat a piece of mulch or something. :-)
Just now catching up on your blog.....can you tell? :-)
