My little foo foo girls... yes, that is sushi on their onsies! ha!
(Reese... always on the move!)
Our days consist of lots of eating (them, not me... I've been reminding myself to eat less because a. I'm not pregnant with twins anymore and b. I'm not nursing twins anymore, so I have NO excuse. 3,000 cals a day is in the past! :)). The girls are eating every 3-4 hours, but... it takes about 1 1/2- 2 hours to feed them both due to their reflux issues. When I stop them to burp one, the other cries (aka screams at times) then vis-vers-a. Tis the life with twins. We play lots- they LOVE seeing themselves in mirrors, swatting at their toys, and cooing, talking, and laughing. They crack me up! The past couple days, they've been napping more than usual- I don't know why, but usually they take 2 good long naps a day and then "cat naps" in between. On Thursday, our OT is going to come meet with us for our screening appointment and then we'll begin services through ECI (Early Childhood Services) for the girl's tight muscles in their necks and legs and work on repositioning so their heads don't have flat spots! While they're napping... I've been absolutely addicted to the Twilight book series. It is SO good. I'm on the 3rd book and cannot speak more highly of it- it sucks you in! If you haven't read it... you need to!!
(Riley all snuggled up)
Richey and I got to go on a date on Saturday night while his parents babysat the girls! It was so fun to go out to eat- we went to La Hacienda Ranch- delish Mexican food! Then we went to Babies R US (of course!) to get mobiles for the girls' cribs hoping it would entertain them enough to make them happy in their cribs (mission accomplished). After that stop we went to the new grocery store by our house- Market Street. It was so nice and so fun! We got lots of yummy things including some Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream (Cake Batter is to die for!), wine (I picked out a wine called Cupcake
because it was so cute-- very shabby chic! I'm a sucker for that kind of advertising... It's a Sauvignon Blanc and I think I'm in love.), fancy Belgium beer (for Richey), and of course some healthy things like fruit and veggies too!
Oh yes- as mentioned above, here is our latest doctor's office adventure: Last week, I took the Riley to the pedi (of course Reese came along) because her eye was gooky (gross, i know- it was a little infection in her tear duct). You have to imagine the scene: it's 30 degrees outside, I had to park very far away because some work truck was in the way of the spots right in front of the building. I struggled but eventually got both girls' car seats snapped into the "limo" aka double stroller all while Reese is FuSsY... ticking time bombs, I tell ya. Since it was just her eye and I am PaRaNoID about RSV/Flu ... i entered on the "Well Side." I was the only one there. Before I even sat down, I was told by the always RUDE desk lady, that we needed to go to the "Sick Side." Long story short- I told her I had preemies that it was RSV Flu season- matter of factly. She then repeated herself like I was annoying her. I then told her there was NO ONE on the well side and it was just Riley's eye. She repeated herself this time raising her voice a bit. I then surprised myself when I said in a sassy tone and I quote, "I do NOT like this!" and turned my LIMO around and struggled for a whole 1-2 minutes to get out the door because I had to go back out into the 30 degree weather to "re-enter" on the SICK side. I was ticked! AFter I made it out the door, the nurse came to get me and said I could come on back. The rude desk lady asked her what she was doing- I was supposed to go to the sick side. The nurse said she knew that but they were ready for us to come back. RL@desk said and I quote, "Well don't make ME look like an idiot!" The appointment continued that way... I had not one but two screaming babies the entire appointment -- and obviously I can't hold them both at the same time very easily, so it just continued on and on and on... and I was and still am officially embarrassed. I RAN out of there and went out the... WELL SIDE just in spite. SO bad of me! I've been asking for forgiveness for that one! When did I become the lady that thinks rules don't apply to her kids? :) Maybe it should stay RSV/Flu season forever because I'm stressed about going out in public with two screaming babies. :) How many times does it happen before you just don't care what other people think??! But I love 'em even when they're screaming their heads off. I think they're perfect!!

Hey girl,
Loved this post. The girls are growing so fast! They are beautiful!
Ummm, I'm not a mom or anything, but I think if I had TWO PREEMIES during RSV season and the well side was empty, I probably would have sat my butt down and stayed. I'd rather face a mean lady than RSV, for sure. You were so nice to her, too. Do not feel bad!
i love seeing those babies in their little sushi onesies! glad you liked them.
kayla!
Those sushi onesies are the cutest things ever! Glad you two had a date night too! Have a great week!
What a crazy doctor's visit. Holy cow! You are doing a GREAT job! Isn't it funny how a typical "don't rock the boat" attitude can quickly change when you have babies? :-) All of a sudden, you'll do anything to protect them!
I can't believe they have sushi onsies! Hilarious!
Bless your heart...this story of you taking the girls to the doc makes me mad. I can't believe the receptionist acted like that. Shame on her. I think the Lord understands why you went out on the 'WELL' side. (hehe)
I'll be praying that spring comes early, so you can leave the house more. LOL
((HUGS))
Your babies are getting so big! I know how it feels to have two screaming babies in public and everyone looking at you, but you do start to care less and less.
I think we all go to the well side this time of year, it it's just for eyes/ears/etc. Who wants to be with the sneezy, coughing, snotty kids?? Shame on that receptionist. Sometimes I'm appalled at the people who choose to work with kids, when you can tell by their attitudes that they don't like them!
And my sister-in-law was just telling me last night about Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun ice cream - I'm headed to the store later to pick some up!
LOVE their onesies! so precious!
I am thankful for you...you are precious! I am so glad we can relate on so many things. Also, I am soooo proud of you. I am with Kelli on this one...rather face the rude lady than RSV! We had RSV and it is NOT fun at all!!!!!
Keep them in. It is hard to be in all the time. I am ready to get out too! Come spring...HURRY!!
I need to wean my babies...did you have to wean them or did you just quit cold turkey?
awww sweet amy! you poor thing. I would have gone up and slapped that lady for you- how rude of her!! sheesh! yes, that definitely makes me the bad guy but come on- she was asking for it!!! :)
I may just have to get a flu shot after all....I can't wait till april to pinch those cheeks! ;) hee hee!
What cuties!! they are getting so BIG :) love their cute outfits too
Well, you are their mom and you know what is best!
You are doing a great job! I know the limo hussleMy favorite is when it is 90+ outside. Boy do you work up a sweat doing the carrier/stroller snap in dance.
You were probably waaayyy more polite than I would have been.
And? News flash. You never get over that feeling of embarassment when your kids do absolutely normal things like *gasp* cry in public! At least, I still haven't. However, I did finally figure out that most other parents are laughing with you, not at you!
I don't know how I missed this post so I am posting a little late. The girls are adorable in their little foo foo skirts! I can't believe the rude desk lady at the doctors office. That just makes me mad. Hang in there with the girls! They are precious! You're a GREAT twin mommy!
